Individual Support and the Douglas Community

Many of our students are coming close to completing their Certificate III Individual Support — some in Disability and others in Aged Care.

As part of their qualification, they must undertake 120 hours of Vocational Placement so Far North Training staff have been working feverishly arranging placements for them.

Various local organisations such as the Mossman Hospital, Mt Kooyong Nursing Home and Mossman Support Services have generously taken on many of our students to complete their obligations in real Support roles.

Working with the local Aged Care and Disability Services is important for two reasons. Firstly, it provides essential Vocational Placements for students and secondly, our local services can witness first-hand the standard of newly qualified locals with the view of future employment opportunities.
