BSB20115 Certificate II in Business

Skill up for a career in business

Learn the basic administrative skills necessary for employment across all industries in a wide range of roles. Students will learn basic office administration, undertake keyboarding and develop fundamental skills using Microsoft Office and the internet. This course can increase your employment prospects into entry level roles.



This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context, working under direct supervision.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course:

  • The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.

Award Issued

Students successfully completing all the listed competencies will achieve:

  • BSB20115 Certificate II in Business. 

Students who successfully achieve some of the listed competencies will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have demonstrated competency.

Career Opportunities

This program will provide a pathway to work in various business settings, where work will be mainly routine in nature and at entry level.  It will enable individuals to enter the workplace in an administrative role including but not limited to:

  • Administration Assistant

  • Clerical Worker

  • Data Entry Operator

  • Information Desk Clerk

  • Office Junior

  • Receptionist.


The course will be conducted over 6–12 months and students can commence training at any time of the year. Study can be conducted part-time or full-time.

Start Date

Students can enrol at any time of the year.

How to Apply

Students must complete an enrolment form and return to Far North Training & Consultancy with appropriate documentation. For further information refer to Student Handbook.

Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL):

If you are currently working in a business setting then you may be entitled to Recognition of Prior Learning. RPL is a nationally recognised process which helps you gain credit towards a certificate based on the skills and experience you have gained from:

  • Previous learning

  • Work or industry experience (paid or unpaid)

  • Volunteering

  • Partially completed studies.

Your experience is matched to current industry qualifications so you can gain credit towards or even recognition for a full qualification.
