Advance your aged care support skills

This course offering will equip you with skills and the opportunity to learn how to work effectively with older persons while creating an empowering environment and implementing a person-centred approach. You will also learn how to maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. You will be able look after older people in a residential, home or community-based setting and will gain the confidence to work independently within organisation guidelines while also delivering excellent service to your aged care clients.  Additionally, the qualification will assist you in furthering your skill set and work in a more senior role as a team leader or a supervisor at aged care facility or with a respite/community organisation.

To complete this qualification you will need to complete 18 units

15 core units and 3 elective units

  • CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach

  • CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships

  • HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems

  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Entry Requirements

Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course:

The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.

Students will also need to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week of independent research.

Delivery

Face-to-face in a small group training environment one (1) day per week.

Awards Issued

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the qualification:

  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Duration

Course duration is 40 weeks, with monthly intakes. Some students may complete the course in a shorter time frame.

Requirements

Applicants for this course must be able to make themselves available to undertake the industry placement of 120 hours that forms part of the training and assessment activity. Students must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 prior to undertaking placement.

Cost

Full course fee $7500 (payment plans are available)

**Students may be eligible for a subsidy under the Higher Level Skills program, funded by the Queensland Government, to assist in the cost of this course. The following co-contribution fees apply if the eligibility criteria are met. To see if you are eligible, click here for more information.

To be eligible for funding assistance you must:

  • Be currently employed in the Aged care industry sector.

  • Already hold a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support in either speciality Ageing, Disability or Home and Community (or superseded qualification).

The following co-contribution fees apply if the eligibility criteria are met.

**Non-concession: $900

**Concession: $550

Licensing Requirements

There are no licensing requirements for this qualification.
