CHCSS00081 Induction to disability skill set

Working with disability in our community

This skill set reflects the skill requirements for supporting people with disability. It provides a set of skills to support the induction of new workers into a variety of roles supporting people with disability.

The Disability Induction Program is an industry endorsed program designed to assist employers in attracting new people into the workforce and to upskill existing workers in understanding the changes taking place in the disability sector.

Core Units

  • CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support

  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services

  • CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability

  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, however Far North Training & Consultancy has the following selection criteria for this course:

  • The participant will be required before enrolling to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine what level of support the participant may need to assist them through their study program.

  • A new worker is defined as an individual employed within the last three months, or who have been offered a position with a commencement date after the completion of training.

Delivery

  • Face-to-face in a small group training environment.

  • This course is delivered on demand.

Pathways Information

These units provide credit towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package, including the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.

Duration

The course duration is dependent upon previous skills and experience gained in the industry together with applicable credit transfer if this should apply.

Port Douglas — Mossman — Atherton — Cairns — Mareeba.

Cost

$800

You may be eligible for a subsidy under the Higher Level Skills program, funded by the Queensland Government, to assist in the cost of this course. The following co-contribution fees apply if the eligibility criteria are met.

Concession fee: $50

Non-concession fee: $100
